Holistic Yoga is derived from various traditions and contemporary arts. Our classes provide a safe space for participants to explore their health on many levels; physical, mental and spiritual. In a moving meditation we build strength and endurance while at the same time creating a sense of calm and quiet. As in the Sadhana Yoga Tradition (SchoolYoga Institute), focus is on the essence of yoga which is a tool to deepen the connection with our innermost Self, and from this place of connection we experience greater unity and harmony in all things.
The Holistic Asana approach follows a guideline format which suggests a few basic principles to make a balanced and whole yoga class, including meditation, intention/mantra, pranayama (breathing exercises), and asana (yoga postures). We use whole yoga guidelines when developing Hatha, Vinyasa or Restorative classes. We can also modify the class sequences to emphasize specific postures (e.g. a back-bending or hip-opening), or create specialty classes to meet the needs of the students (Pre-Natal, Children’s Yoga, Physical Limitations, etc.)
Merging breath, balance, flexibility and strength, students learn self-healing techniques and find depth in their practice. Spinal integrity and bodily alignment are emphasized.
All students are welcome, beginner to advanced. Posture modifications are offered so students may find the desired level of intensity for their practice.
