Asana Teacher & 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Facilitator
Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and to endure what cannot be cured. ~ B.K.S. Iyengar
In 2010 Jessica began deepening her yoga practice while simultaneously introducing yoga to youth who struggled with addictions. Not only was she able to witness the tremendous benefits it provided to these youth, she also experienced them herself. Having had a full disk replacement in her spine, she found yoga to be the perfect combination of physical empowerment as well as emotionally balancing.
During the next few years, she attended various styles of yoga and began to explore different holistic approaches for healing. This in turn, led Jessica to begin researching yoga and its impact on trauma while obtaining her Masters in Social Work. She was trained in Trauma Sensitive Yoga and began to offer this through her work with individuals who had experienced a multitude of different types of trauma.
In July of 2016, Jessica was diagnosed with a severe case of West Nile that resulted in meningitis and brain swelling. She had previously signed up to begin her teacher training with the Holistic Yoga School and was apprehensive about her ability to complete the program due to continued flare-ups and lasting symptoms. In March of 2017, Jessica graduated with her RYT200 from Holistic Yoga School and credits her instructors/mentors for having an endless supportive approach while she explored the true benefits of yoga on the physical and mental wellbeing. Jessica believes incorporating a holistic approach for health and using yoga to explore the power of our mind and body, we can overcome vast arrays of obstacles or challenges life may present.
While being new to teaching, she teaches from her heart and listens and feels the energy in the room to guide her. She believes we are all forever students and the world is our book with endless pages to be explored.
