Love Currents

March 6, 2017 by Krista Davis Leave a Comment

Momma bounces child on her knee, overcome by intuition to love this small being. Sensing her spirit, the child giggles and smiles. Corners of momma’s lips turn upward, rolling the air off her cheek. Light wind current combines with child’s breath, gently flowing and spiraling skyward into the treetops, where a cocoon rests. This current of fresh breath and movement gently grazes the cocoon, causing the first strands to break. Slowly, it crumbles, piece by piece, until a brilliant blue butterfly emerges, wet and lush with birth. She clasps onto the tree and takes the first flap of her new wings, propelling the blessed breath from momma and child up into the heavens.

Spiraling upwards on the sacred pattern of life, the air current eventually bumps into a fluffy round cloud. Penetrating the circle, creating a divot, forming an upside-down heart. A jet-plane flies by, filled with passengers en route to the tropics; lovers and families and adventurers filled with excitement. The cloud is slowly propelled clockwise by the energy of this airplane, until the heart is flipped around. An eagle flies through the center of the heart-cloud, souring with grace and ease.

Down below, a young man on his way home from a funeral witnesses the bird penetrate the heart. His frown turns to a smile as he is overcome by the forces of nature. Upturned lips send air current spiraling into the sky. He never forgets that moment, and recalls it time and time again to his children and spouse, to remind them of the beauty of this world. The story becomes a family tradition, long after the man has settled in his grave.

From his grave, a seed sprouts. Every day it grows, reaching through the air toward the sunlight. Weeping momma cries at a nearby grave, her baby crawling to the flower bud. Baby’s breath grazes soft green leaves, and the first petal begins to emerge. Baby laughs, and in that moment momma’s lips up-turn as she falls in love again. Baby’s breath and upturned lips send wind current upward, spiraling into the treetops, jostling the edges of a small cocoon.

Butterfly emerges, wing flaps, heart-shaped cloud, eagle, stories, traditions, giggle, love, smile, butterfly flap, heart-shaped cloud, eagle… love, love, love, love, love…
