Winter is a creative time of the year for me. I feel drawn to my cozy home studio, to the warmth I feel inside when I’m truly in the moment of creating, when the momentum builds and builds and I can’t wait to see the end result. I’ve been noticing the root of my current inspiration, how it ebbs and flows, and I’ve been wondering where other artists draw inspiration from and what their creative process is like.
If you’ve been to our new studio then you may have noticed all of the unique art and jewelry in our boutique. I’ve reached out to each of the talented artists whose work we are currently hosting with a list of questions to learn more about their talents and inspiration.
It’s my pleasure to introduce to you Aaron Schmitt, in his own words.
Who are you and what do you do?
I am an artist native to Colorado, and a recent transplant from Durango to Loveland. I like to express myself through murals, community-based art, painting, photography, up-cycling, and more!
Why do you create?
I create for many wonderful reasons. I create to express myself through peace, creation, and beauty. I create to generate dialogue between people and catalyze change within our communities. I create to learn about the world and myself and to leave inspiration for others in the future.
Where is your favorite place to work on your art?
My favorite place to work is while traveling. I am always carrying a camera and a sketchbook, day in and day out 365. Visiting new places brings me renewed inspiration and ideas.
What is your current inspiration?
My current inspiration is nature and the cosmos. As our natural world disappears, I hope to give voice to nature through my paintings and inspire a renewed balance in our chaotic times.
