Grey Rock Yoga Hike Reflections & Inspirations
Each journey, each summit begins with an intention to climb higher to grow to evolve. Along the climb we choose our path. Some paths lead to the top of the mountain more quickly and others twist and turn. Often there are obstacles, but alongside these there is also great beauty. Regardless of the path we choose it is how we climb that matters the most. How do we maneuver the obstacles? With ease? With grace? Do we let the obstacles get in the way of the beauty that surrounds our path? The path will always be there, obstacles and all, but the choice of how we navigate it is within us. What will you choose?

Just like anything in life you start from the bottom and make your way to the top. You can start from the top – but then you don’t know how to climb back up – your reward for enduring the climb is just so sweet. Yoga is like that- endure and grow. It’s a constant cycle of death and rebirth and the reward is that you can never look at your old self the same way. On the hike, as in yoga, there are always opportunities to turn back – and that’s ok. But the times where you feel it in your bones – that almost painful yearning for growth – pushing yourself forward is almost a miraculous achievement. Like the lotus in the mud or the shepherd at the end of the journey – the gift is in the perserverance. And you can only persevere throughout the journey. The end of the journey only yields a deep unquenchable thirst for more; to climb higher, see more, feel deeper. The journey to the top is where clarity arrives, and when you arrive the next steps become more clear. The reward for endurance and pain is relief and simultaneous hunger. You’ve seen the expanse around you and you know you are whole, capable and sublime. Your lens through which your life is shown is clear for you. You could spend an eternity up here pondering your past and planning the future. But the present begins calling softly with the whisper of the wind. You can smell the tears of the trees with each gust that sticky sweetness. With each breath the air becomes more pungent. The flowers and the decaying life mixing with the sweetness, the soul, your soul feels more alive and awakened. You realize this moment is more tangible than any others. The power in this moment is infinite and finite all at once. You have choice – you always have a choice. You realize life is a choice, but what to do with it requires no thought. The gift of life is the realization that anything worth doing, being or having has already manifested – it’s an infinite drop in non-infinite sea of Self. enjoy the view for a few more moments… all you have is here, now… and now… and now…

Loved getting out of the city and enjoying the many manifestations of silence. Yoga on the top of the mountain was really grounding and the view was incredible! Each part of today’s adventure has been a beautiful piece of the grand journey that is life. Glad I got to experience this with such a wonderful group. AHO!

Soft eyes,
Solid horizon.
The rock beneath,
I feel her heartbeat.
And warm embrace,
Giving me a place to lay.
Untouched by chaos,
The perfect day.

Blue sky and warm sun set the sacred space. Grey rocks rise up to hold the yogis’ mats. Gentle breeze tickles the cheeks. Yogi’s practice their craft within a universe so clear and pure, their hearts can’t help but swell while taking it all in.
