Affirmations that move us closer to that perfect state of Radical Wellbeing (adapted from article by Deepak Chopra; The Chopra Center; www.chopracentermeditation.com)
1. Every day in every way, I am increasing my mental and physical capacity. I am reversing my biological age by changing my perception of my body, it’s aging, and time.
We explored such topics as yoga and mental health, yogic lifestyle and sustainability; concepts of complementarity related to holism and eastern/western medicine philosophy; and Chakras and how that energy impacts our health.
2. I prioritize self-care by meditating regularly, allowing myself to ret in the sacred space of silent connection so I may be calm and centered.
Meditation and breath work was a natural part of each day with many opportunities to experience its benefits in different venues.
3. I honor my body’s need for rest by prioritizing deep, revitalizing, undisturbed sleep.
Rest and sleep are important when attending a retreat. To assure additional rest, we experienced a Yoga Nidra to close our retreat.
4. I lovingly nurture my body by listening to its needs and responding proportionately with healthy, alive, vibrant foods and lots of water.
We shared healthy snacks and enjoyed lunches in a soothing environment each day.
5. I rejoice in the miracle of my body by moving, stretching, and strengthening it every day.
Our asana each day included a Chakra flow, Restorative Flow and a New Moon flow. All of which served to revitalize our bodies, mind and spirit.
6. I openly give and receive love to those around me.
Open sharing, caring, understanding and even tears allowed for a safe environment to feel the support and love of each person.
7. I make time to play and explore each day, approaching new experiences with the curiosity and openness of a child.
We colored mandalas, enjoyed singing and playing instruments and created our own aroma therapy bags.
While this affirmations and activities may seem simple, practicing these ideas brought new meaning to how each one of us leads a holistic lifestyle. We know that holism is so much more than just being without illness. It is that place where we feel whole and at peace with who we are and how we relate and interact with our environment.
Each one of use possess a power within that, if we are still, will guide us on our journey toward our purpose. We know that if even one of our energy centers are blocked or congested, we can experience physical symptoms. By allowing ourselves to feel and explore using our affirmations, we can heal ourselves. When we care for ourselves in these small, yet significant ways, we are also caring and loving those around us. All that we have on the inside comes out. That being said, it seems that it only makes sense to cultivate the peace, love, joy and health on the inside. Maybe Radical Wellbeing can be something that is spread throughout our world one breath at a time.
It is with much gratitude and love that I was so blessed to guide this incredible time of inner exploration and growth.
Namaste,
Liz
