After the holidays, I came back to Colorado, excited to relax and settle into my life again, and start up my 3rd series of Modules for my yoga teacher training at HYS, when suddenly a friend of mine sent me a text. Patricia is a Lakota woman that is building greenhouses on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, and is empowering individuals to grow their own food.

As we texted back and forth, she revealed that her greenhouse construction was not going well… 3 of them still needed to be built, and the 4th one had been destroyed in a wind storm. Her mental and emotional health was not well, since she was approaching time to begin cold starts for spring. I felt a pull to help, although I didn’t really know what I could do with my schedule only having 1 or 2 days a week free.

With that in the back of my mind, I was talking to a friend about a different project we were working on and she said, “I’d love to go meet Patricia and learn about her greenhouses.” I laughed and responded, “Alright! Let’s go this weekend!” Her and I started planning, and meanwhile I talked to my boss & it turned out that we were in between contracts, and didn’t have work for the first half of the week anyways! That gave me nearly 5 days to be out there and help!

It was incredible to have such inspiration, listen to my intuition, and see how the Universe aligned everything perfectly to give me the opportunity to be of service!! Good reminder to listen to my heart and intuition when I feel that pull to something greater than myself.
