An Approach to Holistic Health Yoga Retreat – Reflections of a Blissful Weekend

May 24, 2015 by Krista Davis Leave a Comment

From the moment I entered the Solarium, where our Holistic Yoga School is located, early Saturday morning, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and excitement as I prepared our space to greet the beautiful people who would be arriving.  As they began to arrive, the energy was also felt to be excitement, anticipation and complete presence in the moment.

Our intention for our Retreat was “Art of Living”. We introduced ourselves with our interpretation of that as well as what “Holism” means to us.  We also explored the ideas of “Thoughts Become Destiny” and “Dreaming our World into Being”.

As we began our discussion of Holism and all the aspects associated with that, we openly shared experiences and thoughts related to supporting all aspects: Mind, Body Emotional and Spirit.  We engaged in discussion of those aspects, as well as many other topics which included, Chakras and energy flow, natural approaches to achieving a natural state, yoga and mental health and sustainable yogic lifestyles.  We not only were expressive in our words with conversation but also with our voices as we sang mantras to calm and clear our minds, allowing us to move closer to that place of pure enlightenment.  As we moved through our weekend together, we allowed ourselves to meditate, both guided in our sacred space and independent outside in our beautiful surroundings of nature.  We moved our bodies with intention through asana practice which further allowed us to open to the possibilities of touching that blissful state of knowing our true self.
While the connection of trust and openness developed among us, the larger connection of each person to their own internal prana and true self became more pronounced.  This was a beautiful event to witness.
We joined our voices with Kirtan and music so generously shared by members of the group.  As each person was inspired to shared their special talent, it was completely evident that this was an expression of their true self shining brightly for all of us to see.
Our Retreat came to a close on Sunday evening. Although we all left that space with our physical body, each one of us took with us every thing we experienced as well as maybe even a little more than what we knew to be true when we arrived.
As the facilitator of this OMazing weekend retreat, I feel blessed and so very grateful for the experience of witnessing that sacred, personal reflection and enlightenment that each person was able to express.
Myself included.
Namaste
