Art & Intuition: Listening to your inner guru

Namaste, Lovely Tribe!

Here at HYS, we are so very proud to introduce our next guest artist, our very own, Bonnie K!!!!

Bonnie expresses herself using vibrant Jackson Pollock-esque splatter paint and soft natural water-colors. Splatter paint, she explains, is truly an investment in time and a labor of love. To create the striking color and many different layers, Bonnie had to wait for each subsequent layer to dry before intuitively choosing another color to layer on top. This brings us to the notion that art, much like life, is a process, and to achieve the best results, it is best not to rush but rather allow things to unfold as they may. Om Tat Sat- it is what it is.

Art, and myriad other creative processes, are an excellent way to remind ourselves to slow down and experience present awareness. Whether it’s intuitively choosing a color, or focusing on your pranayama, or taking the time to sit down with an old friend, there are so many ways we can practice being present rather than going through the motions of our daily routine without any thought behind our intentions. At HYS, our intention this week is to “harness the power of intention”; understanding that your thoughts and intentions manifest your destiny. There are numerous studies to uphold this notion, and you can even see it in your daily life. How much easier is it to accomplish a task when you mentally encourage yourself than when you put yourself down and think negative thoughts? By practicing living with intention and fully embracing present awareness, we become more aligned with our true Selves, and our actions come from a place of intuition rather than more superficial areas of motivation, ambition, or ego. One of Bonnie’s intentions with her art is to create and celebrate beauty, which is clearly evident in her paintings. To see more of Bonnie’s beautiful and intentional art, come to one of our many weekly classes. We look forward to seeing you!
