HYS Art Beat

DSC08932_sBig news from our beautiful yoga Shala! We are pleased to announce that our Yoga h-OM-e will now be highlighting monthly guest artists! Every month, a different featured artist will beautify our walls with their creations, which will also be for sale. This month’s featured artist is Lisa E- one of our very own HYS teachers! Lisa makes beautiful mosaics highlighting nature and the great state of Colorado using upcycled and recycled skateboards and skis.

Lisa’s passion for creativity began on the beaches of Costa Rica, repurposing plastic water bottles that would have otherwise taken up space in landfills. Upon her return to Breckenridge, she and her partner, Pascal, opened Board Vibes, a company dedicated to giving fresh life to much-loved and used skateboards, snowboards, and skis. Lisa is inspired by the moving art of skateboarders and snow athletes, and she enjoys transitioning their artful movements into an artful meditation through the mosaics she creates. Lisa and Pascal enjoy traveling and adventuring as much as possible, and their adventures are a great source of inspiration for their art.

Getting creative through art can be a very meditative and soothing endeavor. Studies have shown a link between creativity and better physical and mental health. Much like when people use the excuse “I can’t do yoga- I’m not flexible!”, many of us shy away from creativity for fear that we won’t hold up to the many imaginary standards we set for ourselves. The truth, however, is that we as a species are all creative! Whether it be painting, writing, planning, dancing, reading, speaking, , even through yoga, each of us is a creative genius in some aspect of our lives. How do YOU express yourself creatively? To see our newest additions, come visit HYS for one of our many weekly classes; we look forward to seeing you!

Those are beautiful! Does she have a website where her art can be viewed and purchased?
